Bethany Hall-Long

Bethany Hall-Long was first elected to her current position as lieutenant governor in 2016. Previously, she served in the Delaware House of Representatives from 2002 to 2008 and in the Senate from 2008 until 2017.

Hall-Long was born and raised in Sussex County and graduated from Indian River High School. She received a master's in nursing from the Medical University of South Carolina and a PhD in health policy and nursing administration from George Mason University. She and her husband live in Middletown. They have one son.

As lieutenant governor, Hall-Long has focused on investing in public education, affordable healthcare and banning assault weapons. She led efforts to create the Behavioral Health Consortium to address the opioid epidemic and mental health challenges facing state residents, and also co-chaired the Pandemic Resurgence Advisory Committee to create a strategy for health and business during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. Her gubernatorial campaign is focused on:

  • Early childhood education.
  • Expanding access to healthcare.
  • The economy.
