Here are some of the stories that captured Delmarva's attention this week:
Monday: Sea Level Rise: Milton town council discussed how sea level rise could affect the town. According to a civil engineering firm's report, sea levels could rise by 1.28 ft by 2050. Possible mitigation suggested to the council included shoreline restoration at Memorial Park and bulkhead inspections.
Tuesday: Stillwater Harbor Development Denied: Sussex County Council upheld the denial of the Stillwater Harbor Development in Oak Orchard.
The developer appealed Planning and Zoning's original denial for the River Road parcel, but Council ruled against Stillwater Harbor again.
Wednesday: New Stop Lights: New stop lights could be seen almost ready along Minos Conaway Road and Route 9. They're scheduled to be active on November 17th. The new traffic signal is on a detour for the Planation Road closure. DelDOT is asking drivers to be careful and alert.
Thursday: South Bethany Parking Passes: The town of South Bethany made a big change to parking after a 4-2 vote. The town is cutting back on the number of parking passes each homeowner is allowed to have. Originally people who live in the town were allotted up to four permits but their have been concerns that homeowners were illegally selling extra permits. That led to the town to change it's parking pass rules.
Friday: Golf Course Progress: The Old Rookery Golf Course in Milford has been given a facelift and a new name. The new Southern Delaware Golf Club is almost ready for big swings and tough putts. Managers of the property say that a soft opening of the course will be hosted on December 9th. That opening will allow the public to tour the grounds though it's not quite ready for golfers to tee up.
